Public Sector Unions To Engage Govt Employees On 5 Wage Offer
Public sector labour unions are seeking a fresh mandate from the members after the government tabled a revised wage offer of 5, up from the previous offer of 4.7 at the Public Sector Coordinating Bargaining Council.
The Medium-Term Budget Policy Statement tabled last year made a provision for a 4.7 salary increase for public servants .

"We really have come all the way down, you know from 12 and now from 7,5 to 6 , you know. Thats a percentage and a half, while the employers only moved from the 4,7 to 5, which is only 0,3. So, we believe that, you know, the employer should really consider, moving up and at least meeting us at a 6 because we believe 6 is reasonable," says the Public Servants Associations Joseph Mashigo.
He has added that the servants' net income has been affected by other expenses.
