Psa Concerned About Water Cuts At Kzn Govt Facilities
The Public Servants Association PSA in KwaZulu-Natal has expressed concern over the recent disconnection of water services at government facilities in the province due to unpaid bills.
The PSA says the Umsunduzi Municipality has implemented the water cuts at the provincial Health Departments headquarters.
The cuts have affected the Basic Education Departments head office in Pietermaritzburg due to schools in the province failing to pay their water bills.
PSA Provincial Manager Mlungisi Ndlovu says, "We strongly condemn this recent disconnection of water at key departments, that includes the Department of Health, the Department of Basic Education, theres also Public Works."
"Disconnections result to the unpaid municipality highlight a systematic financial management that disrupts public service at a critical time. If you look at the Department of Education for example, the office serves as a central support system of schools across the province, which is especially crucial during the exam period. "
