Thousands of people are protesting in front of Parliament in Cape Town, calling for sanctions against Israel. This comes amidst ongoing conflict in the Middle East .
Civil society movements, political parties and members of a number of faith communities are participating in the protest.
The protesters are demanding an immediate end to the attacks in Gaza and the invasions in Lebanon, Syria and Yemen by Israel.
Over 40000 Palestinians in Gaza have been killed since the start of the Israeli invasion. More than half of them are women and children. The 7th of October will mark a year since the conflict began.
