Proteas Rickelton Hits Career-best 259 In 2nd Test Against Pakistan

Proteas opener Ryan Rickelton made his highest score in any form of domestic or international cricket with 259 on day two of the second Test against Pakistan in Cape Town.

Rickelton reached his double century before lunch and, along with Kyle Verreynne and Marco Jansen, extended South Africas lead between lunch and tea.

The Proteas rocketed from 429 for 5 at lunch to 566 for 7 at tea as Rickelton went past 250. Verreynne got a century and Jansen a fifty.

Pakistan eventually got Rickelton out in the hour before tea while Verreynne was dismissed earlier for exactly 100. Jansen is unbeaten at tea on 57 and Keshav Maharaj is with him on 2.

Rickelton put on a partnership of 235 with captain Temba Bavuma 106 on the first day and 148 with Kyle Verreynne 100 as the South African batters made hay in the sweltering conditions in Cape Town.
