Prof Sibusiso Bengu To Be Laid To Rest In Kzn On Friday

Democratic South Africas first Minister of Education, Professor Sibusiso Bengu, will be laid to rest in Mtunzini on the north coast of KwaZulu-Natal on Friday.

This is expected to follow an Official Funeral Category 2 at the University of Zululand.

Bengu died last Monday at the age of 90. He has been hailed for shaping the countrys post-apartheid democratic education system .

Bengu also served as the Ambassador to Germany from 1999 to 2003 before he retired.

African National Congress ANC national executive committee member Senzo Mchunu, who delivered a tribute on behalf of the ANC at his memorial service in Eshowe on Thursday, said Professor Bengu left behind a legacy of hope and progress.
