Parliaments Justice Portfolio Committee starts with the process to appoint the next deputy Public Protector today.
The committee has shortlisted eight candidates for the position that has been vacant for almost a year.
This is the second attempt to find a suitable candidate.
In April this year, this process had to be abandoned after a legal opinion from Parliament that the presence of the former Public Protector, Busisiwe Mkhwebane, indicated a reasonable apprehension of bias.
This comes as the then Economic Freedom Fighters EFF MP did not declare her relationship with two of the candidates.
