Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, and Tottenham have filed legal notices reserving the right to seek compensation should Manchester City be found guilty of breaching Premier League financial rules. The move aims to ensure the clubs can pursue compensation claims under league arbitration if Manchester City is penalised.
The legal notices reportedly stem from concerns about the statute of limitations, which could limit claims back to November 2018. This date coincides with when Der Spiegel published allegations against Manchester City, sparking the ongoing Premier League investigation.
Manchester City, who face 115 charges of rule breaches filed in February last year, continue to deny any wrongdoing. An independent commission began its hearing on the case on September 16, expected to conclude in ten weeks. The final decision, however, is unlikely before the New Year.
City have been a dominant force in recent Premier League seasons, securing six titles in the last seven years. The club maintains they possess irrefutable evidence to contest the allegations.
