The Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) has been lauded by Parliaments Portfolio Committee on Transport, for improving its financial statement from a disclaimer to a qualified audit in the 2023/24/ financial year.
But MPs also had various critical questions. They included the proposed devolution strategy of PRASA and accountability over the Agencys double CEO positions.
Former CEO Zolani Matthews was reinstated after his successful Labour Court challenge. He later parted ways with PRASA again.
PRASA ended up with two CEOs and ultimately had to settle with Matthews.
Members of the committee wanted accountability from the board.
