The results of our latest poll indicate marginally positive sentiment among Tourism Update readers towards Cape Town hosting the 2040 Summer Olympics. When asked whether the city should bid to host the mega event, 51% of respondents said yes.

A strong proportion of readers (46%) said the city shouldnt bid to host the games, potentially highlighting concerns in some quarters that the massive investment required could negate the positive returns for tourism, promotion and long-term infrastructure development. The remaining 3% of readers were unsure.
