Miami-Dade police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Wednesday morning in South Miami Heights.
According to police, officers responded to the 19300 block of Southwest 116th Avenue just before 1 a.m. after receiving a report about a male being shot.

Police said officers discovered that the victim had been standing outside when a vehicle drove by and someone inside the car shot him.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue transported the victim to Jackson South Medical Center in critical condition, but he was later pronounced dead, authorities confirmed.
