Police Launch Search For Escaped Limpopo Prisoner

Police are searching for 24-year-old Thembinkosi Gift Mabunda, who escaped from custody yesterday after appearing at the Malamulele Magistrate's Court in Limpopo.

Mabunda, from Hasani Mbalati village, was with four other inmates but did not board the bus transporting them back to detention.

Police spokesperson Stephen Thakeng confirmed that authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the escape.

Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has instructed officers to use all available resources to locate Mabunda, who faces multiple charges, including carjacking. Additional charges, including escaping from lawful custody and aiding prisoners to escape, will now be added.

The search for Mabunda is ongoing.
