Police Have Refused To Release Speed Darlington Despite Court Order Adeyanju

Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju has raised concerns over the continued detention of rapper Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, despite a Federal High Court ruling in Abuja granting him bail on Monday, December 23.

Speed Darlington has been in police custody since November 27, following his re-arrest by Nigerian police in Owerri, Imo State.

The rapper was initially arrested in October after a petition filed against him by his colleague, Burna Boy.

According to reports, the Federal High Court granted the rapper unconditional bail, with the only requirement being for his legal team to present the ruling to the police legal department for processing.

The department was expected to forward it to the Force Investigation Department FID, where the rapper is detained, for compliance.
