Police Call On Families Of Illegal Miners To Help Identify Bodies

Police in the North West are calling on relatives of the deceased illegal miners - who were retrieved two weeks ago at Buffelsfontein Gold Mines Shaft 11 in Stilfontein - to help with the identification of the bodies.

The government-funded rescue operation retrieved 78 bodies.

VIDEO Government confirmed that all illegal miners were retrieved.

It also retrieved 246 others who were still alive. Two of them lost their lives at the local hospital.

Community volunteers retrieved nine bodies last year, adding up to the total number of 89 deceased illegal miners .
