Miami-Dade police announced the arrest of an 18-year-old suspect Friday in connection with the fatal shooting of a man in Florida City , authorities confirmed.

According to jail records, Kendy Javier Torres Figueras, of Miami, is facing one count of second-degree murder with a weapon.
Police said the victim, whose identity was not disclosed, died after he was found lying on a sidewalk in Florida City Thursday morning with a gunshot wound to the chest.
According to Florida City police Sgt. David Hunsberger, officers responded to the area of Palm Drive and U.S. 1 just after 740 a.m. after receiving a gunshot detection alert.
