Police Arrest Eight Undocumented Foreign Nationals In Kimberley
At least eight undocumented persons have been arrested for being in the country illegally, while one was found in possession of drugs in Kimberley, Northern Cape, during a roadblock.
The roadblock is part of the safer festive season operation that was launched in November.
Deputy Police Minister Polly Boshielo participated in some of the operations.
Boshielo says the aim of these roadblocks is to ensure that people arrive safely at their destinations.
Weve got a lot of success since we started yesterday. Nine people were arrested for having uncut diamonds and then as we were standing here we also arrested illegal undocumented people, about eight of them and yesterday 7200 mandrax tablets were also confiscated from a Nigerian. So those are some of the successes we are having here.
