Pmb Learners Pelt Vendors With Stones After Suspected Food Poisoning
A group of learners at Sinvamuva Primary School in Imbali outside Pietermaritzburg have pelted vendors outside the school with stones after 11 learners were rushed to a local clinic in whats believed to be a food poisoning incident.
According to reports, the students fell ill after eating chips and snacks. The KwaZulu-Natal Education Department says district officials have been dispatched to the school to conduct a thorough investigation.
Hloniphile Buthelezis child is one of the learners who was not affected.
She describes what she witnessed this morning.
"I noticed the children running out from the classrooms and they were busy fighting with the aunties that are selling snacks outside of the school, telling them that they shouldnt keep selling things that are wrong to them. So, I think that maybe if there were tuck shops at the schools, tuck shops, which the Department of Health could be able to monitor and make sure that what theyre selling is not expired."
