On Sunday night in Monaco, Springboks flanker Pieter-Steph du Toit was named Mens 15s Player of the Year for the second time at the World Rugby Awards. Du Toit, who also won the award in 2019, had an outstanding year, even stepping in as a lock due to injuries against the All Blacks in Johannesburg. He was instrumental both offensively and defensively. Du Toit surpassed fellow Springboks Cheslin Kolbe and Eben Etzebeth, and Irelands Caelan Doris for the award.
Additionally, Du Toit is among seven Springboks selected for the Mens 15s Dream Team of the Year, alongside Ox Nche, Malcolm Marx, Etzebeth, Damian de Allende, Jesse Kriel, and Kolbe.
In a contentious decision, Frances Jerome Daret was awarded Coach of the Year, edging out Springboks coach Rassie Erasmus after leading France to a gold medal at the Paris Olympics.
