The majority of Tourism Update readers believe increasing park fees wont be enough to solve over-tourism issues burdening certain national parks such as the Serengeti and Maasai Mara during peak visiting times.

Responding to our latest poll, 53 of readers said they didnt believe increasing park fees would prevent over-tourism while funding conservation. Another 36 of respondents said this would solve the issue and the remaining 11 were unsure.

Over-tourism during the Great Migration has been a growing issue for reserves such as the Serengeti and Maasai Mara with evidence increasingly showing negative impacts on the environment and wildlife. Increasing park fees has been touted as a solution along with tourist quotas.
