The International Olympic Committee ( IOC ) announced on Sunday that the bronze medal, originally awarded to United States gymnast Jordan Chiles in the floor exercise at the 2024 Paris Games will now be given to Romanian gymnast Ana Barbosu.

This decision follows a ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) which found that the appeal filed by the USA Gymnastics team regarding Chiles score was submitted after the one-minute deadline.

The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) has reinstated Chiles' original score of 13.666 and adjusted Barbosu's score of 13.700 to place her in third position. As a result, Chiles will lose her bronze medal, which will be reallocated to Barbosu.

The IOC confirmed that they will work with the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Romania to organise the reallocation ceremony and will also coordinate with the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee ( USOPC ) regarding the return of Chiles medal.

"Following the CAS decision with regard to the Women's Artistic Gymnastics Floor Exercise Final and the amendment of the ranking by the International Gymnastics Federation, the IOC will reallocate the bronze medal to Ana Barbosu (Romania)," the IOC said in the statement.
