The fire in the Hemel and Aarde Valley at Hermanus in the Overstrand Municipality in the Western Cape that broke out yesterday on the mountainside and spread towards Hawston has been contained.
Overstrand Municipal Manager Dean ONeill says the roads between Hawston and Fisherhaven are open to motorists.
He says the roads were closed due to the fire that spread towards the road causing an excessive amount of smoke.
ONeil says they are currently monitoring the area for flare-ups.
