Over 10 Motorists Nabbed For Drunk Driving In Kzn

More than 10 motorists have been arrested for drunk driving, including one taxi driver, in KwaZulu-Natal during the Easter long weekend.

Several other drivers were also charged for various violations of the traffic rules.

The KZN MEC for Transport and Human Settlements, Siboniso Duma, was at a roadblock near the Qalakabusha Correctional Services Centre at Empangeni on the provinces north coast.

Spokesperson, Ndabezinhle Sibiya, says roadblocks will continue into the new week.

Sibiya says the motorists that have been arrested for drinking and driving are in prison, and the MEC is pushing for a six-year term in prison because he believes that will serve as a deterrent.
