Sport, Arts and Culture Minister, Gayton McKenzie says while South Africans have different heritages, their love for the country is the same.

He opened the debate on Heritage Day in the National Assembly yesterday. Heritage Day will be celebrated next week Tuesday.

The theme of this years debate is: Celebrating 30 years of Unity in diversity and paying tribute to those who laid lives for our democracy.

McKenzie reflected on how it was never imaginable that peace and reconciliation would be achieved with the release of Nelson Mandela.

He says, "Our cultures Madam Speaker and heritages might be different but our love for South Africa is the same. We have achieved a miracle. The world still use us as an example when they speak about people who has put their country above hate and prejudice."
