One person has been killed and several others injured in a crash between two vehicles on the N3 Pinetown bound, before the Pavillion off-ramp in Durban.
Advanced Life Support ALS paramedic spokesperson Garrith Jamieson says it is alleged that one of the vehicles rear-ended the other.
Paramedics assessed the scene and found that three people from both vehicles had sustained various injuries and immediately more ambulances were dispatched to assist. One passenger, a male believed to be in his thirties, was found entrapped in the rear of one of the vehicles and was found to have sustained major injuries. Unfortunately, there was nothing more paramedics could do for him and he was declared deceased at the scene.
Jamieson adds The man was cut free by the eThekwini fire department using the jaws of life. The injured occupants were stabilised on scene by ALS paramedics before being transported to various Durban hospitals for the further care that they required. At this stage the events leading up to the crash are unknown, however, SAPS were in attendance and will be investigating further.
