Nigerias participation in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games ended without any medals, marking the eighth time the country has come away from the Olympics empty-handed.
This disappointing performance has raised serious questions about the state of sports development in the country, prompting a public apology from Sports Minister, Senator John Owan Enoh .
The Minister acknowledged the teams inability to meet expectations and expressed disappointment at the underperformance of Team Nigeria, which fell short of the countrys objectives and hopes.
Mr. Enoh emphasised the need for a comprehensive review of athlete readiness, coaching, and administrative roles, and stressed that lessons must be learned to improve future performances.
He called for turning the disappointing outcome of the 2024 Olympics into a positive step forward for Nigerian sports.
