The Ogun State Government , through its Ministry of Sports Development, has allocated N16.5 million in subventions to 33 sports associations across the state. Each association received N500,000 during a formal presentation at the June 12 Cultural Centre in Abeokuta.

The financial support is aimed at aiding preparations for the 22nd edition of the National Sports Festival to be hosted in Ogun State.

Honourable Wasiu Isiaka, Commissioner for Sports Development, reiterated the state government's dedication to fostering sports at all levels. He highlighted that the subventions would help develop athletes, improve training programs, and ensure Ogun's strong representation at the festival.

This initiative complements the state's broader vision to grow its sports sector, attract investment, and create more opportunities for young talent.

Initially scheduled for January, the event has been rescheduled to hold from May 16-30, 2025, to allow for better preparations and facility upgrades.
