South Africans will face higher fuel prices in December, with both petrol and diesel prices set to increase from Wednesday, December 4, as confirmed by the Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources.

Petrol The price of both grades of petrol will rise by 17 cents per litre. This means
- 95 Unleaded petrol will cost R20.68 at the coast and R21.47 inland.
- 93 Unleaded will be pegged at R21.15 inland.

Diesel Diesel prices will rise by between 55 and 56 cents per litre
- 50ppm diesel will now be priced at R18.57 at the coast and R19.33 inland.
Despite a decrease in the average international price of Brent Crude oil from 73.28 to 72.70, the weaker rand has offset these savings. The rand depreciated from an average of R17.53 to R17.93 against the US dollar during the review period, largely influenced by the uncertainty surrounding Donald Trumps US election victory and concerns about his economic policies.
