Strong waves and coastal flooding eroded the beach in the coastal city of Hollywood. Sand pushed against the sea wall, onto homes, and across the historic Hollywood Beach Broadwalk.
Ocean water also pushed inland into inlets, canals, and the Intracoastal Waterway. To help prevent flooding, officials asked residents to volunteer to clean up a catch basin or storm drain .
"This is mother nature ... You cannot fight with it," said Franco Lopez, a Hollywood Beach resident.
