Nwhc To Continue With Plans Despite Committee Halting Them
The North West Housing Corporation NWHC says it will continue with the provinces mega and smart city projects, despite the North West Legislatures Portfolio Committee on Human Settlements instruction to halt the projects.
North West Housing Corporation CEO Sello Mogodiri says as an entity of the provincial government, the Corporation remains within its legal rights to continue with the projects unless there is a formal court order or directive from the MEC for Human Settlements.
This is after the North West Provincial Legislature raised concerns over the failed event at Lokaleng village outside Mahikeng, which cost taxpayers R250 000 and allegations that NWHC was pushing forward with developments on disputed land.
"North West housing has successfully obtained the necessary approval from the Department of Public Works and exco. We have followed all legal procedures to convene a meeting, and no one has the authority to disrupt a government meeting. Therefore, the North West Housing Corporation will move forward with its plans, including efforts to develop smart city projects, Mogodiri elaborates.
