Nw Police Constable Killed In Crash Following Hijacking Response
A 32-year-old police constable tragically lost her life in a vehicle crash near Majakaneng, outside Mooinooi, in the North West province early this morning.
Provincial police spokesperson Adele Myburgh confirmed that the officers were returning to the Mooinooi police station after responding to a hijacking complaint involving four victims who were left stranded on the roadside.
The police vehicle overturned following a tyre burst, resulting in the death of the constable driving the vehicle.
Her partner, also a police constable, sustained minor injuries, was admitted to a local hospital, and later released. Four other passengers, who were being transported in the police vehicle, were injured and taken to various local hospitals for treatment.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Patrick Asaneng, extended his condolences to the family of the deceased officer and wished all those injured a speedy recovery.
