Nujoma Left Citizens With Gifts Of Freedom And Independence'

Namibias President Dr. Nangolo Mbumba says the late former head of state Dr. Sam Nujoma has left citizens with precious gifts of freedom and independence.

Mbumba paid tribute to Nujoma at his funeral in the capital Windhoek.

He died last month at the age of 95.

Former president Thabo Mbeki and International Relations Minister Ronald Lamola are amongst the mourners.

Mbumba says, "We fought under your command and we won the liberation struggle and forever removed apartheid colonialism from the face of Namibia. Indeed we are in your own words and I quote now the masters of our own destiny."
