National Prosecuting Authority NPA in the Eastern Cape has welcomed the sentencing of four more people linked to the Seven Angels Ministries Church. They have been given life sentences for the murder of five Ngcobo police officials in 2018.

The sentencing comes more than six years after the crime was committed.

The officers were killed during a robbery at the station where firearms and ammunition were taken. An off-duty soldier was also murdered on the same day.

NPA regional spokesperson Luxolo Tyali says additional sentences ranging between 25 and 40 years were also handed to the four men.

"This particular case took a long time because perpetrators had to conduct their own defence because their religious beliefs being the members of the Mancoba-led Seven Angels Ministry cult, prevented them from using the services of legal representatives."
