Notorious Amaoti Gang Members Arrested In Durban

Four most wanted members of a notorious gang in the Amaoti area of Inanda township , north of Durban, have been arrested in connection with over 20 murder cases.

The four, who are aged between 21 and 33, were arrested by an intelligence-driven multidisciplinary team.

Police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda says the suspects are alleged to have been terrorising the Inanda community since June last year.

Police followed positive intelligence about the suspects who were in hiding at a house in Cato Manor, and upon arrival, police found the four suspects in possession of two firearms, ammunition and suspected stolen property such as laptops and cellphones. The suspects have so far been linked with over 20 cases of murder and several cases of attempted murder, which they allegedly committed in the Amaoti area of Inanda from June 2024 to date. Investigations are ongoing and a search for more suspects continues. The arrested suspects, aged between 21 and 33 years old, will appear in the Ntuzuma Magistrates Court on Thursday, 24 April 2025.
