nothing ordinary about meyiwa case in terms of firearm collection

A forensic analyst is expected back on the stand when the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial continues in the High Court in Pretoria this morning.

Retha Grobler is one of the four analysts who have confirmed the findings of ballistic expert Chris Mangena , linking a firearm seized from one of the accused, to the murder of the former Bafana Bafana captain.

Five people are on trial for gunning down Meyiwa in Vosloorus, in south-eastern Johannesburg in October 2014.

Yesterday, Grobler said the testing of the alleged murder weapon happened under extraordinary circumstances.

She says, Theres nothing ordinary about this case in terms of the collection of the firearm. In saying in ordinary case, received at case reception, following the process, hand it to your analyst. You do it in your office, you re-seal it and hand it back to the safe. That is an ordinary daily case.
