Northern Cape Locals Benefit From Filming Of Poachers Moon
A new feature film, Poachers Moon, is currently being shot in the Northern Cape. The story is based on the collective unwritten history of South Africa and a fragile relationship between young boys from different races.
This is as the country transitions from apartheid to a democracy.
This is a story of hope, a story of a black boy and a white young boy growing up in a farm and having to navigate social issues. It tells a story of just two innocent little boys having to navigate life with all the challenges, says the Director of the film Mqondisi Ngubane.
The film benefits the locals, as most of the cast and crew are locals, and workshops to transfer skills are also being held.
However, filmmakers say while the province offers beautiful natural arts and raw talent, it is a logistical challenge to make movies in it.
