Nominations Open For Civic Honours To Celebrate Exceptional Citizens

Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis and the City of Cape Town are inviting residents to nominate individuals and organisations deserving of the prestigious Civic Honours in 2025, reports Cape town Etc .

The annual awards, which honour remarkable contributions to the city and nation, are now open for nominations from 13 January until 12 March 2025.

The Civic Honours recognise outstanding service, extraordinary contributions to the community, and exceptional acts of sacrifice. These awards celebrate both living individuals and posthumous recognitions, ensuring the legacy of Cape Town's finest citizens is immortalised.

A longstanding tradition reinstated

Mayor Hill-Lewis emphasised the significance of these awards: Civic Honours are about recognising the contributions of remarkable people who have delivered exceptional public service across various sectors. After a 12-year hiatus, we revived the tradition in 2023, and we are thrilled to make these honours a regular fixture every two years.

The Civic Honours have long been a symbol of the citys pride, acknowledging extraordinary achievements across various fields, from social and community services to exceptional talent and contributions to nation-building.
