No. 2 Ohio State defeated previously undefeated No. 5 Indiana 38-15 on Saturday, with quarterback Kyle Howard playing a pivotal role. Howard passed for two touchdowns and rushed for another, while TreVeyon Henderson ran for a score, as the Buckeyes 10-1, 7-1 Big Ten solidified their path to a potential Big Ten championship game.
Ohio State now has a chance to return to the Big Ten title game for the first time since 2020 with a win over Michigan at home next Saturday. A victory would also set up a rematch with No. 1 Oregon, who narrowly defeated Ohio State 32-31 on October 12.
Indiana 10-1, 7-1, No. 5 CFP had its best opportunity to upset the Buckeyes for the first time since 1988, but was undone by special teams errors and a strong Ohio State defense that sacked quarterback Kurtis Rourke five times.
The game turned in Ohio State's favor late in the first half, when Indiana punter James Evans mishandled a snap, allowing the Buckeyes to take over at the Hoosiers' 7-yard line. Ohio State capitalized immediately with a 4-yard touchdown run by Henderson, giving them a 14-7 lead.
Indiana coach Curt Cignetti summed up the loss by saying, "In life, all good things come to an end," acknowledging the end of the Hoosiers' unbeaten run.
