Cam Ward led No. 11 Miami to a 42-14 victory over Wake Forest, throwing for 280 yards and two touchdowns to Jacolby George, and running for another score. Mishael Powell added a 76-yard interception return for a touchdown. Miami pulled away with 22 points in the fourth quarter to secure the win.
The Hurricanes, now 10-1 6-1 ACC, can clinch a berth in the ACC title game with a win at Syracuse next weekend. Ward completed 27 of 38 passes, breaking two single-season Miami records for most passing yards and completions, both previously held by Bernie Kosar for 40 years.
Ward emphasized the importance of continuing to win "At the end of the day, Miami was a mid team last year. Were better than they were last year. We have nothing to lose. Its good to control your destiny another week, but it doesnt mean anything if we dont win."
Miami is set to face either No. 2 Ohio State or No. 13 SMU in the ACC title game, depending on the outcomes of next week's matchups.
