Nmb Council Rejects State Of Disaster Report Due To Inconsistencies

The Nelson Mandela Bay NMB Council in the Eastern Cape has rejected a report on the state of disaster in the Metro and has since sent it back to be refined.

The report follows the floods in the area.

The report in question, which was tabled in Council, calls for Executive Mayor Gary van Niekerk to approve an urgent budget amendment to respond to the disaster.

But councillors in the Metro have raised concerns over inconsistencies in the amount required for repairs, particularly for sporting fields.

The report is expected to be tabled again for Council approval on Thursday.
