Kashifu Inuwa CCIE, the Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency NITDA, stressed the importance of innovation in driving Nigeria's development, economic diversification, and global competitiveness. He made this statement during his keynote address at the 8th Annual Research Fair and Exhibition at Nasarawa State University, Keffi NSUK, where he urged academia, industry leaders, and policymakers to adopt disruptive innovation to tackle the countrys challenges and unlock its potential.
Inuwa, who was represented by Engr. Ya'u Garba, Deputy Director of NITDA's eGovernment and Digital Economy Development Department, praised NSUK for organizing an event focused on knowledge-driven solutions that align with Nigerias growth objectives. He highlighted the university's growing emphasis on transformative innovation, noting it reflects an understanding of the need for impactful solutions to real-world problems.
Inuwa pointed out that while academic inventions are important, their real value lies in their ability to become practical innovations that can reshape industries, solve societal problems, and accelerate national development. He urged institutions to foster creativity and bold thinking to ensure that research outcomes lead to tangible societal benefits.
