Nine Arrested In Limpopo For Drugs Possession And Dealing

Police in Siloam, Limpopo, say they have recently arrested and charged nine suspects with possession and dealing in drugs. Police spokesperson, Hlulani Mashaba says an undisclosed amount of cannabis was seized from houses and individuals with the help of a civic organisation, Vhembe Concerned Group.
Last year, an illegal drug laboratory, alleged to be the largest in Africa, was discovered in the province on a farm in Groblersdaal.
Mashaba says they are stepping up the fight against illegal drug dealing in the province.
We are relentless in pursuit of safer communities, this is evident to the dismantling of drug dealers and candidates in the province. We therefore, arrested 2042 suspects during the second quarter and 1380 suspects in the third quarter for possession and dealing in drugs. These operations that we conducted reflect our commitment to crime prevention. As the province, we pride ourselves with the crime intelligence capabilities. The successful removal of drugs from the hands of the criminals is a major step in reducing violence and serious crimes in our communities.
