Super Eagles and Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman has been named on the 30-man shortlist for the prestigious 2024 Ballon d'Or award.
Lookman earned his spot on the nomination list following his remarkable performance in the Europa League final, where he netted a hat-trick in Atalanta's victory over Bayer Leverkusen.
He stands as the sole African representative on this year's list. Notably, neither Lionel Messi, an eight-time winner and the current holder, nor Cristiano Ronaldo, a five-time winner, are included in the 2024 nominations.
The shortlist is heavily influenced by players from Spains national team, which triumphed in Euro 2024, and Real Madrid, the reigning UEFA Champions League champions.
