Nehawu Set To March In North West Over Fired Members

The National Health, Education and Allied Workers Union NEHAWU is expected to lead a march and handover a memorandum of grievances to Premier Lazarus Mokgosi in the North West on Friday.

NEHAWU says they are forced to act after seven of its members were fired for participating in a legal protest action at the North West Parks and Tourism Board.

This follows Mokgosis alleged failure to intervene despite numerous calls by the union for him to take action against the MEC for Economic Development, Environment, Conservation, and Tourism, Bitsa Lenkopane.

Employees demand salary increments, the rescinding of the suspension of some of its members and an end to the late payments of salaries.

NEHAWUS regional deputy secretary in Mahikeng, Kealeboga Dikobe says the union took it up on itself to follow all necessary steps to ensure it attains the certificate to strike.
