Nearly 700 Langa Shack Fire Victims Assisted With Documents: Nzuza
Deputy Home Affairs Minister Njabulo Nzuza says they have assisted nearly 700 shack fire victims from Langa on the Cape Flats with birth certificates and identity documents.
Hundreds of people were left homeless when a fire razed shacks after Christmas.
Nzuza says they will also respond to other affected communities following several other fires across the metro.
"Some of the documents we are issuing on the spot, for instance we have just issued birth certificates for some of the mothers and children. Then those children will now be able to get the SASSA cards they have lost, which is very important for them to continue with their lives. But also, it very important to access even healthcare."
