N4 Highway Temporarily Closed Following Diesel Tanker Blaze
The City of Tshwane Emergency Services have been deployed to battle a massive 38 000-liter diesel tanker blaze on the N4 westbound highway, near the M17 intersection in Pretoria North.
The N4 Highway has been closed temporarily due to safety concerns, and motorists are advised to use alternative routes. No injuries have been reported at this time.
Multiple agencies are on the scene, including Tshwane Metro Police as well as the Gauteng Traffic Police.
The Citys emergency spokesperson Lindsay Mnguni explains, Our emergency communication centre received the tanker fire report at about 0954 and immediately dispatched multiple firefighting resources from Rosslyn Fire Station, Wonderboom Fire Station, Innesdale Fire, Central Fire Station, Themba Fire Station and Ga-Rankuwa Fire Station to the scene."
According to Mnguni, deployed firefighting resources include two fire engines, two water tankers, one water carrier, one foam tender, two rapid intervention units, two hazardous materials units, one district commanders unit and one mobile command unit.
