MEC for Public Works in Mpumalanga Thulasizwe Thomo has officially handed over the Mpumalanga International Fresh Produce Market to both the provincial Agriculture and Economic Development departments.
This follows yesterdays announcement by Premier Mandla Ndlovu that the long awaited International Fresh Produce Market will be operational in the next three months.
MEC Thomo says several challenges were experienced in the construction of the project which started in 2018.
We were experiencing a number of challenges which of course are challenges which many projects are experiencing. Part of them will be stoppages due to sub-contracting people wanting opportunities in our projects that we are implementing. But weve managed to come this far and completed this project. We are implementing three projects which are key projects in the province. We have classified them as special projects including this one the one that we are today handing over, the International Fresh Produce Market, including the Parliamentary village, the Mkhondo boarding school.
