The Lebombo Border Post is open, following a brief closure on November 13.

South Africas Border Management Authority says it remains on high alert, as it anticipates continued protests in Mozambique.

BMA spokesperson Mmemme Mogotsi says the processing of travellers has resumed, however the intelligence received from the Mozambican government indicates that there could be a resurgence of violence.

SATSA CEO David Frost confirmed BMAs concerns 'The weekend brought welcome stability and the Lebombo crossing is operational, but we're hearing reports of more protests between 13 and 15 November.

Mogotsi says the BMA will divert travellers to an alternative border post, 50 kilometres from Lebombo, if protests proceed.
