Motlanthe Part Of Panel That Will Facilitate Drc Peace Talks

Former president Kgalema Motlanthe has been appointed to a panel of facilitators for peace talks in the conflict in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Southern African Development Community SADC and East African Community EAC leaders have revealed that Motlanthe will be joined by a number of leaders including former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta.
President Cyril Ramaphosa represented South Africa in the meeting.
The two blocs want to implement immediate, medium and long-term measures to achieve peace in the DRC.
SADC chairperson, Zimbabwes President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his EAC counterpart and Kenyas President William Ruto organised a virtual meeting in which they announced Motlanthes appointment.
