The Garden Route District Municipality in the Western Cape says nine children from the Mossel Bay area were admitted to hospital yesterday after allegedly sharing chips that they bought from a spaza shop .
The children experienced stomach cramps and were immediately taken to a local hospital.
Municipal Mayor Andrew Stroebel says the children have since been discharged.
He says environmental health practitioners have already initiated an investigation into the incident.
The chips will be sent to a lab and test results will be made public.
