Monaco Stunned By Bottom-club Montpellier In Ligue 1 Upset

Monaco continued its struggles on Friday as Ligue 1s bottom side, Montpellier, staged a remarkable comeback to win 2-1, casting further doubt on Monaco's form ahead of their Champions League clash with Aston Villa next week.

Despite captain Thilo Kehrer putting Monaco ahead in the first half with a near-post header, Montpellier's Mousa Al-Tamari stole the show with a second-half brace, securing just their third league victory of the season.

The result leaves Monaco winless in four Ligue 1 matches and at risk of dropping out of the top three, depending on other results. Their decline in form is alarming, with Adi Huetter's team also recently exiting the French Cup and winning just twice in their last 11 matches across all competitions.

Monaco appeared dominant in the early stages, deservedly taking the lead through Kehrer's goal. However, the match's momentum shifted dramatically after a bizarre delay at the start of the second half, caused by Montpellier fans blasting loud music from speakers behind one of the goals.

The hosts capitalised on a mistake from Kassoum Ouattara in the 55th minute when Tamari intercepted a weak backpass, rounded the goalkeeper, and scored his first goal of the season. Tamari then struck again with a late winner, slotting the ball past Radoslaw Majecki at the near post after being set up by Arnaud Nordin.
