Momconnect Celebrates 10 Years Assisting Over 5 Million Pregnant Women
MomConnect, South Africa's primary mobile health service, has supported over five million pregnant women and new moms over the course of ten years.
With more pregnant moms seeking online medical assistance, the initiative has become an essential tool for boosting maternal and child health.
The National Department of Health NDoH, in collaboration with the Gauteng Department of Health, celebrated the initiative's anniversary and praised its effectiveness, which has resulted in substantial gains in prenatal care, breastfeeding, and vaccination rates.
This initiative has not only empowered women but has also made remarkable strides in reducing maternal mortality and promoting healthy practices,' said Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko, Gauteng MEC for Health and Wellness.
The program, which offers free healthcare information via SMS and WhatsApp, allows users to seek professional assistance on topics such as pregnancy care, newborn health, nutrition, and vaccinations.
